A chieftain of New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has declared that the Friday’s judgement pronounced by the Supreme Court over who is the authentic governor of Kano state has saved Nigeria’s democracy.
Oguntoyinbo made this declaration on Friday.
The Supreme Court in its judgement on Friday in Abuja, declared Abba Yusuf as the duly elected governor of Kano state.
Oguntoyinbo, in his reaction, declared that the decision of the Supreme Court has saved the country’s democracy.
The NNPP chieftain in a statement made available to journalists on Friday, also commended the Supreme Court for upholding justice.
He maintained that he has the conviction that the wishes of millions of Kano voters will be upheld.
He used the opportunity to thank supporters of the party for their peaceful conducts in the face of what he described as provocation by the All Progressives Congress, (APC) which wanted to take victory through the backdoor.
Oguntoyinbo said, “The Supreme Court with its decision has saved our democracy.
“We know all along that the wishes of millions of Kano voters will be upheld. I thanked our supporters nationwide for their peaceful conducts in the face of provocation by the All Progressives Congress, (APC) which wanted to take victory through the backdoor.
“I now called on Governor Abba Yusuf to continue his good work for the progress of Kano State. I also felicitate our leaders led by Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso for their maturity, and peaceful conduct while the case lasted.
“We thank God for the victory and NNPP will from now on go from leap to leaps”.
