Oyo state chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has installed the Director of Schools, Bodija International Schools, Ibadan, Architect Olumide Eso as one of its patron.
The investiture of Eso took place within the premises of the school in Ibadan on Thursday.
The ceremony was attended by the SWAN Chairman, Mr. Adeniyi Alebiosu, members of SWAN top management and other staff of the school.
Alebiosu while speaking on the rationale behind the investiture of Eso, said that the association decided to pick Eso as one of its patrons due to his contributions to the sports development.
He added that the new patron has contributed immensely to the development of talents in the area of sports.
He said that Eso contributed to the SWAN under 13 football tournament by sponsoring the students of the school to participated actively in the competition.
“Why do we decided to honour him? It is because of many things. He contributed to Oyo SWAN under 13 football tournament.
“He sponsored the school to participate. They did not only participate, the determination of the students was second to none. It is a well deserved one”.
Eso in his reaction, said that he was happy to be named as one of the patrons of the association.
He pledged his support for the association at all times.
“What is will bring to the person table as one of the patrons of the association is not in terms of money but the passion.
“Sports is a unifying variable that connect people of various backgrounds together. It does not look at your religion, sex, age or tribe. I will support the association”.
