NLC Strike: Doctors refuse to attend to patients at Abuja Hospital

Must read

Some patients have been left stranded at the Bwari General Hospital in Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja following the ongoing two-day warning strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

A check by BIGSHOWGIST reveals that the few Doctors in the hospital refused to attend to patients saying that they (Doctors) are on strike on Tuesday morning, September 5.

At the children’s ward of the hospital, parents who brought their kids for treatment looked despaired when they were informed that doctors were not on ground to attend to them.

The patients who were on admission and their cases critical were discharged and referred to the emergency unit of the hospital for attention.

A 16-year-old boy who went to the hospital for his laboratory test results was unable to get any doctor on seat to review the medical tests carried out on him and left the hospital frustrated.

The boy’s mother who accompanied him to the hospital expressed sadness over the plight of other patients stranded in the hospital.

She told BIGSHOW that it was difficult for her to get one of the hospital workers to print her son’s result for them to take to a private hospital for review and subsequent prescriptions.

When approached for inquiries, hospital attendant who was on ground said the staff were complying with the directives of the NLC.
