The former Barcelona striker scored a stunning long-range goal in the first half.
The match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw.
Inter Miami went on to win 10-9 via penalty to win the Leagues Cup.
Following the victory, Messi now has 44tl trophies to his name so far and the first of his Inter Miami stint. He is arguably the most decorated footballer in the history of the sport.
