Eleje Ebeke Akaa emerges new President of NCWS

The National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) has sworn in Mrs. Eleje EbeKe Akaa as the new President of Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State chapter.

19 other women who were also inaugurated alongside her on Sunday are to lead the group for the next 5 years.

The inauguration which took place at the Local Government Headquarters  Council Hall  Afikpo, witnessed the presence of the National President of NCWS Ebonyi State chapter, Mrs Chinyelu Udoku, who came alongside with other Members of the State Exco.

Speaking during the event, the wife of Afikpo Local Government chairman, Mrs. Sandra Onyinyechi Uche-Ibiam who was appointed as the Matron of the group, in her appreciation, thanked the State President, Mrs. Udoku on her visit for the inauguration and also promised to create a conducive atmosphere for the National Council for Women Societies in the Council Area,  adding that she will attract programmes that would assist their women to meaningfully develop both in skill acquisition and other trade.

She commended the wife of the State Governor, Chief Mrs. Maudaline Uzoamaka Nwifuru on initiatives in setting a wonderful plan for Ebonyi women, urging the members to always throw their weight behind Her Excellency.

Inaugurating members of the Local Government Exco, the State President, Mrs Udoku charged the executive members to use their positions in ensuring that the living standard of women in the area are enhanced.

The president, Mrs. Akaa in her acceptance speech, appreciated the state leadership of NCWS for ensuring a peaceful process that produced the new leaders in the Council Area, promising that she will use her position in joining hands with other of her colleagues for building a vibrant body, that will speak volume for women both in the State and beyond.
