What electric pole did to moving cars in Lagos

Must read

Many narrowly escaped death in Lagos on Wednesday, when an electric pole with a live wire, belonging to the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC), fell on moving vehicles along the axis.

The incident happened at the junction linking Ola Ayinde street with Mobolaji Bank Way, close to the Headquarters of Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’, of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ikeja. It was around 2pm when the pole suddenly fell on the cars

The incident caused traffic gridlock in that axis, forcing vehicles trying to link up with Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, through Toyin Street, Opebi and Allen Avenue axis via Ola Ayinde Street to take alternative streets of Kolawole Odunsi Street to Unity Road, before they could link up with Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way.

Also, others coming from the Maryland axis trying to link Toyin Street had to move further to Unity Road as the fallen pole with electric cables blocked the entrance of Ola Ayinde Street through Bank Anthony Way.

Daily Independent reports that a visit to the accident scene revealed the electric pole pressing down a Toyota Corolla car with Reg. No LSR 897 EV, while the cables were seen on a red Toyota Camry car with Registration No. GGE 435 HK which was partially burnt by the naked wire.

Also, a Mercedes Benz jeep, with Registration No. FST 996HB, which was slightly touched by fire from the cables was seen.

Some owners of the cars, with other victims, were seen among sympathizers thanking God for saving them from the accident.
