The Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) says it will set up an anti-corruption unit to guard against vices in the outfit.

Its Managing Director, Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa, disclosed this on Thursday in Minna, at a two-day workshop on strict compliance with assets declaration.

The workshop is being organised in collaboration with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Yelwa, who cautioned the staff against any form of corrupt practices, vowed that any staff caught in shoddy deals would be sacked.

He stressed the importance of registering and filling the CCB forms to ensure transparency among staffers.

He said that the training was targeted at promoting transparency and accountability in the system, and cautioned against acts that could be detrimental to effective and efficient service delivery.

The managing director said that no staff would be given the opportunity to have any contact with contractors, adding that the measure would strengthen HYPPADEC’s zero tolerance for corrupt tendencies.
He urged the participants to ensure strict compliance with the CCB act and emphasised the need for training and retraining of workers for sustained optimal performance.

The Chairman of CCB board, Prof. Isah Mohammed, represented by Zakaraya Bulus, applauded the management of HYPPADEC for its interface with various agencies toward improving the quality of the workforce. (NAN)
