A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade ThankGod Ugwumsinachi, has asked the Secretary of the recently concluded APC national convention committee, on Contacts, Strategy and Mobilization and the leader of the factional structure of the party in Abia State, Chief Ikechi Emenike to jettison his 2023 gubernatorial ambition and rally round the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development and governorship hopeful on the party’s platform, Dr Uche Sampson Ogah to ensure all-round victories for the party in the 2023 general elections in the state.
This comes on the heels of the preparation by the All Progressive Congress for its forthcoming primaries to elect standard-bearers for all elective political offices, for participation in the main general elections in 2023 in Abia State.
However, Comrade Ugwumsinachi, who was speaking in an exclusive interview with AFRIPOST on Monday in Umuahia, the state capital, harped on the urgent need for all the party’s leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members at all levels of the state, to close ranks and, abandon individual interests, work collectively, with utmost sense of commitments and patriotisms, to foster the needed leaderships shrouded on genuine economic growths and Infrastructural development for the state, insisting that, should Abia APC want to achieve impressive outing come 2023, the party leaders must go into the 2023 general elections through conclusive consensus option and field Ogah as the sole standard-bearer of the party to secure winning of the Abia governorship seat comes 2023.
He reechoed on the Senate Majority Chief Whip and former governor of the state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Chief Ikechi Emenike, Dr Alex Otti and 2023 other co governorship aspirants on the platform of the governing party in Nigeria to rally support for the aspiration of the minister, as he has demonstrated uncommon leadership and achieved great strides in human, industrial and Infrastructural development, and as well as, wealth creation to enhance livelihoods of Abians, ndigbo and the country at large.
The Abia APC stalwart posited that the call on the leaders became imperative now that the general elections are fast approaching and the party cannot emerge victorious in the upcoming exercise in complete absence of unity, commitment and sincerity by the party’s leaders and members in Abia State.
Ugwumsinachi demanded the outright dissolution of the parallel structure of the APC illegally endorsed by the outgone National Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) chaired by the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, by the newly inaugurated National Working Committee of the APC under the leadership of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, adding that the factional structure led by Mr Kingsley Ononogbu negates the democratic ideologies and principles on which the APC was formed upon and further maintained that the unholy activities of party members in the parallel structure had constituted a serious threat, and clogs in the wheel of progress of the APC and its electoral misfortunes, and political instability in Abia State.
He explained that most of the party members do not align with the factional structure and do not enjoy the legal backing to operate, insisting that the national leadership of the governing party in the most populous nation on the African continent, must be dissolved and fused into the substantive leadership of the Abia APC chaired by Hon Acho Obioma, as this would enable the party to participate in 2023.

According to him, “the party will secure a win in all levels of elective offices in Abia State and work towards addressing the myriads of economic and Infrastructural deficits bedevilling Abia. And the populace in the state are in dire and urgent need of a true Governor that will address the numerous problems impeding the growth of the state. And there is no alternative, order than the APC, which has made visible and incomparable democratic strides, mostly in states of the southeast zone of the Igbo extraction, like Ebonyi, Imo, etc. You will see with your two open eyes, that their respective governors have made indelible marks in human, economic and Infrastructural growth and development”
On the controversies trailing the Abia zoning arrangements propagated by the founding fathers of the state, Comrade Ugwumsinachi, maintained that Abia north senatorial district must be allowed to produce the next Governor of Abia state in 2023, and warned the political players to tread with caution over the issue, in order to avert looming political instability and civil unrest in the state.
He frowned at the unhealthy activities and evil machinations of a few elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to alter the zoning arrangements known as Abia charter of equity, calling on well-meaning and patriotic Abians not to allow the injustice, as it would not encourage the growths, development and the unity of Abia state.
The Umuahia-born APC chieftain also reiterated the call on all leaders and members of the party, and the generality of Abia electorate to queue up with Dr Uche Ogah, in order to enthrone in Abia state, a development-oriented leadership at all levels, for the good of the state and our people.
