Super Eagles head coach, Austin Eguavoen, has tendered his letter announcing his resignation from his role as the head coach of the Nigerian national team.
His resignation is not unexpected after Nigeria was defeated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff by the Black Stars of Ghana.
Eguavoen will now return to his role as Technical Director of all national teams.
A report by Brila.net says Eguavoen has sent an official letter to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, announcing his decision to resign.
Ghana defeated Nigeria in an away goal rule, having held the Super Eagles to a draw in Ghana in the first leg. A 1-1 draw in Nigeria gave the black stars an advantage over the Eagles on a superior away goal.
