I almost quit running for second tenure – Obaseki appreciates supporters

Must read

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has said he almost gave up on his second tenure ambition due to crisis rocking his former party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Obaseki made the remark on Thursday after emerging winner of the primary election conducted by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Obaseki who is now flying the partyā€™s flag as the party’s candidate for the Septemberā€™s governorship election, was declared winner of the primary electionĀ  after scoring the highest votes of 1,952 out of total accredited votes of 2024.

Governor Obaseki pledges not to disappoint the people of the state for the confidence reposed on him despite the challenges.

Obaseki added that he believed that by the grace of God, he will be governor of Edo State for another four years.

ā€Today makes a defining moment for our dear state. With todayā€™s election result, it is clear that there is no mountain. I thank my family for the encouragement.

ā€I salute all our party members for standing tall when it became necessary to do so.

ā€I almost quit running for a second tenure all because of overbearing god-father, but the PDP cover provided us with the umbrella when it was heavily raining. Kenneth Imasuagbon and others made this possible.
