Some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have launched fresh attack in Agatu community in Benue State, killing 9 villagers while many were left injured.
The cause of the attack could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report however, the Benue TV quoted sources as saying the attack followed an allegation by herdsmen that the people of the village killed two of their people and rustled many of their cows.
The Caretaker Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area, Hon. Suleiman Usman Alilu confirmed the attack on Sunday.
Hon. Suleiman told our correspondent that he received a call on Sunday morning that herdsmen were attacking Adana community in Agatu.
He however, confirmed tha security personnel have been deployed to the affected community and everything has been done to restore normalcy in the village.
