President Muhammadu Buhari has presented Mrs Aishah Ahmad to the Senate for confirmation as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Ahmad is to replace a former Deputy Governor, Dr. Sarah Alade, who retired in March this year after 24 years of active service in the apex bank.
According to a statement by the special adviser media to the president, Femi Adesina, in accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007, President Buhari urged the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to consider the expeditious confirmation of Mrs Ahmad, who would then resume work immediately.
Prior to her appointment, Mrs Aishah Ahmad, was the chairperson, Executive Council, Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) and Head Consumer Banking at Diamond Bank .
Born October 26, 1977, Mrs. Ahmad, is an indigene of Niger State. Her professional banking experience traverses the NAL Bank Plc, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc.
A member of the Chartered Financial Analyst, CFA and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, CAIA Associations.
Her educational achievements include: an MSc in Finance and Management at Cranfield School of Management (UK), an MBA (Master of Business Administration) in Finance at the University of Lagos; she also holds a graduate degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja.
In the same vein, Adesina said the President has written the Senate, seeking the confirmation of appointment of members of the Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN.
He said they are to replace four members, whose tenure expires at the end of this year. The nominees are: Professor Adeola Festus Adenikinju; Dr Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi; Dr Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Dr Asheikh A. Maidugu.
After Senate clearance, the new members of the Monetary Policy Committee are to resume duties next January.
