Nigeria has emerged as the leading country with the highest number of citizens deported from India.
This is according to data from the Foreigners Regional Registration Officers (FRROs), which monitor foreign nationals entering the country with valid documents.
The Union Home Ministry’s 2023-24 annual report reveals that from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, a total of 2,331 foreigners were deported from India.
Nigerians accounted for 1,470 of these deportations, representing more than half of the total.
The report suggests that violations such as overstaying visas or breaching visa conditions were likely reasons for their deportation.
Bangladesh ranked second, with 411 deportees, while Uganda came in third with 78 of its citizens sent back during the same period.
