Must read

A group within the fold of Labour Party, Labour Party Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC), has called on the leadership of the party to suspend the forthcoming convention of the party due to the recent happenings in the party.

The group made this declaration via a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Dr. Kingsley Okundaye.and made available to our correspondent on Monday.

Recall that the party has been engulfed with a series of crisis over the control and ownership of the party.

Okundaye, in the statement described the recent happenings in the party especially the dramatic twist of events between the National Chairman of the party, Mr Abure and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), as worrisome.

He then called for the suspension of the forthcoming congress.

Okundaye while speaking further, maintained that the suspension of the forthcoming congress will give room for wider and adequate consultations of the stakeholders and the members of the party.

He added that this will go line with the constitutional provisions, for a unified future congresses and convention

“We have watched as an unbiased arbiters of Justice for the unity, peace and progress of this great party, we must register our dissatisfaction over the sad and avoidable ugly developments in the leadership of the party.

“Unfortunately, the new dramatic twist of events between the National Chairman, Mr Abure and the organised Labour, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), which doubles as the founding father of the LP; over the purported and surreptitious convention slated on the 27th of March, 2023, have forced our leadership to review our previous stance on this burning matter.

“That, the proposed convention be restrained, cancelled and or suspended indefinitely, to give room for wider and adequate consultations of the stakeholders and the members of the party, in line with the constitutional provisions, for a unified future Congresses and Convention”.
