Magaji Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has been declared the winner of the Bodinga North state constituency in Sokoto State, in the rerun election.
Abubakar, with a total of 6,488 votes, was announced as the winner of the election by the returning officer of the Court-ordered rerun election, Professor Farouk Tambuwal.
He defeated his closest opponent and the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Yusuf Marafa Danchadi.
Marafa garnered 5,893 votes.
Speaking while declaring him the winner in the early hours of Sunday morning, Tambuwal said, “Having satisfied the requirements of the law, Magaji Abubakar of the PDP is hereby declared the winner is returned elected.”
Recall that the court of appeals had declared the election in Bodinga Constituency inconclusive and ordered a rerun in five polling units in the constituency.
