A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Senatorial candidate of the party during the last general election in Anambra state, Prof. (Arc) Geoff Onyejegbu has said that one of the clear mandates of His Excellency and former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s presidency when elected as Nigeria’s president will be to prioritize security aimed at addressing Nigeria’s pressing security challenges.
Professor Onyejegbu, who is also a retired Army Colonel and former Nigerian Military Attachée to the United States in Washington DC Mission, emphasized that Senator Kwankwaso’s presidency holds the key to effectively curbing all forms of insurgency and terrorism plaguing the nation.Speaking during the victory celebration of the Kwankwasiya’s Movement in Kano in honour of the state Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, whose victory at the last governorship election was affirmed by the Supreme Court, Prof. Onyejegbu’s statement accentuates a growing recognition within the political landscape of Nigeria regarding the need for decisive leadership in combating insurgency and terrorism.
He said that during the last general elections where Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, flew the flag of the NNPP, the campaign team went through the 36 states of the federation and 546 local government areas across Nigeria and was welcomed in places that were dreaded in the country including some areas in Abuja, thus underscoring the general acceptance of the former Governor of Kano state, as a leader with the track record to steer Nigeria out of the doldrums.
According to the erudite professor, Senator Kwankwaso’s track record of astute governance and unwavering commitment to security initiatives as former Governor of Kano State and Nigeria’s Minister for Defence positions him as the ideal candidate to address the pressing security challenges.
Also citing Senator Kwankwaso’s tenure as Governor of Kano State, during which he implemented innovative security strategies that significantly reduced crime rates and restored peace and stability to the state, Onyejegbu emphasized the former Governor’s proven ability to tackle complex security threats with a blend of pragmatism and decisiveness.
He said that Senator Kwankwaso’s comprehensive approach to security will not only prioritizes military intervention but also socio-economic development and community engagement.
“This holistic approach is crucial for addressing the root causes of insurgency and terrorism and fostering lasting peace and stability across the nation” he said.
He therefore appealed to well-meaning Nigerians from all works of life to rally support for the Kano born politician in the build up to the 2027 general elections, noting that Nigerians have a duty to consider Senator Kwankwaso’s proven leadership credentials and vision for a safer, more prosperous Nigeria.
He however reaffirmed the NNPP’s unwavering support for Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s presidential candidacy, citing his demonstrated capacity to steer Nigeria towards a future free from the scourge of insurgency and terrorism.
