Not fewer than two persons have been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command in connection with the alleged killing of a socialite, Oladoyinbo Sunday.

The police carried out the arrest on Friday.

Sunday’s lifeless body was found within Ijapo Estate Akure, the Ondo State capital, on December 10, 2023, by men of the state police command.

The suspects were, however, arrested through intelligence gathering by the state command.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami.

The PPRO said, “The SWAT team through intelligence-led policing apprehended one Atinuke Adeniyi aged 29 years who claimed she and the deceased were involved in a romantic affair and that on the ninth, a day before the corpse was dumped.

“She (Atinuke) and the deceased made out at a brothel in Ijapo, after which the deceased started convulsing and out of fear, she abandoned him and quietly left the room.

“The suspect led the police team to the brothel where one Adeojo Ilesanmi aged 50 years, the owner of the brothel was arrested.

“He confessed to having driven the corpse to the scene where it was found in his brothel with claims that he was afraid when he realised the deceased died in his brothel.”

Odunlami said the investigation was still in progress while suspects will be charged in court after the investigation.

An Ondo Court, sitting in Akure, the state capital, sentenced a man, Abayomi Joseph, to death for killing his neighbour on November 28, 2023.

Also, the state police command on January 3 said it arrested one Lezibi Usman for allegedly killing a man, Olatunji Sunday, at Ikare Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The report stated that Usman, a driver, lost control and rammed his vehicle into the midst of the youths who were holding a carnival along the road.
