Police react as vigilante group, Fulani clash in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has said that three persons were injured during the clash on Saturday between a group of Fulani boys and a vigilante group in Yaba, Abaji Area Council of the territory.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh stated this in a statement while reacting to the incident on Sunday.

According to her, a preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that the clash erupted as a result of unlawful impoundment of motorcycles belonging to the Fulanis.

“On receipt of the report of a clash involving a Villante group and the Fulanis, DPO Yaba mobilized to the scene where three vigilante members with various degrees of matchet cut injuries were rescued and rushed to Abaji General Hospital”, she said.

“The situation was brought to control and normalcy restored. The incident is still under investigation by the Yaba Division”, the PPRO added.

It was gathered that the clash resulted in the death of one vigilante member, while about six others sustained various degrees of injuries.
