Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo state, Miss Wasilat Adegoke has assured the sports enthusiasts in the state that the second phase of Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan will soon commence.
She stated this on Friday when she hosted members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State chapter.
The commissioner while speaking, said that everything is set to make the project happen.
She said that the task is on the Ministry to making things work accordingly as the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde is ready to do the needful.
“The main bowl of the stadium was only the first phase of the entire project which was commissioned two years ago.
“The second phase comprises of the gymnasium and indoor sports hall for a variety of sporting activities, a world class tennis court as well as the luxury apartments which will be given out on annual subscription for members of the public”.
Adegoke while speaking further also hinted that they are ready to revive the Governor’s Cup and ready to include the primary schools in the state to participate so as to develop the talents from the grassroots.
“The Governor as assured us that the second phase of the Lekan Salami Stadium will commence very soon where all the necessary things will be put in place for other sports to strive.
“The governor is a lover of sports and we in the ministry are to make things right by monitoring the necessary things before the work commence”.
