Fuel subsidy: NASS leadership launches eight coaster buses for workers

The National Assembly on Monday in Abuja launched eight new coaster buses for workers.

These buses as part of palliative, were provided by the Clerk, Magaji Tambawal, to ease the transportation of parliamentary staff.

The emphases behind the provision of the buses is to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the staff.

This is even as the Clerk has also commenced the implementation of the new N35,000 wage award for staff of the National Assembly as part of measures to ameliorate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin while speaking during the launch and handing over of the vehicles to the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), said the gesture was a demonstration of the commitment of the 10th National Assembly under the chairmanship of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, in addressing the wellbeing of staff.

He further noted that when the request for the provision of the buses came to the table of the Senate President, he did not hesitate to give his approval due to his commitment to staff welfare.
