Must read

The president of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, is said to be flown abroad for medical treatment.

This follows the injuries Ajaero sustained during a protest in Owerri, Imo State.

The NLC president’s medical trip was confirmed by NLC Publicity Secretary, Benson Upah to the Nation newspaper.

Upah noted that the NLC president could not be treated at the Federal Medical Centre FMC, Owerri, because of the nature of the injuries he sustained during the scuffle.

Recall that Ajaero was arrested allegedly by the Police in Owerri, Imo State capital, following an ongoing protest by members of the union in the state.

Report however said that some miscreants smashed vehicles and inflicted wounds on labour members during the protest.

The union was in solidarity protest in the state over the alleged violation and abuse of rights and privileges of the state workers by Governor Hope Uzodinma-led government.

Ajaero was later released with injuries on his face, revealing that he was brutalised and manhandled by those who kidnapped him momentarily.
