I have investigated, Akpabio not behind my sack – Sen Abbo withdraws claims

Must read

Sex-toy lawmaker and Adamawa North Senator, Elisha Abbo, has withdrawn his allegation that Senate President, Godswill Akpabio had influenced the Appeal Court ruling that nullified his election.

Abbo said that by swearing with his mother’s grave, it is clear Akpabio was not behind his current ordeal.

He made the clarification on Arise Television on Wednesday while apologizing to the Senate President.

The Abuja division of the Court of Appeal had earlier nullified Abbo’s election.

The court consequently declared the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Amos Yohanna, as the winner of the February 25 senatorial election.

After the ruling, Abbo had singled out Akpabio, accusing him of working against him.

Akpabio, however, distanced himself from the appellate court ruling that removed Abbo in a statement by his media aide and spokesperson, Eseme Eyiboh.

But Abbo withdrawing his earlier statement in what looked like an apology said: “I have to say this with all sense of humility and responsibility that the press release we issued yesterday was premature and based on the available information at our disposal yesterday.

“As of today, we have discovered a lot of things, and yesterday night I had a discussion with the Senate President, and I am convinced that he is not involved.

Quoting Akpabio, Abbo said: “I swear by my mother’s grave that I’m not involved; I did not even know that you were in court.”

He added: “For a number three citizen to come up to tell me that he has sworn on his mother’s grave, a woman that he loves so much, a woman who brought him up after he lost his father at the age of six, I don’t see a reason why he would lie.”
