Controversy trails appointment of new Post-master General as workers protest

Must read

Workers of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) have blocked the head office of the service in Abuja.

This is in protest against the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General.

Ajuri Ngelale, a Presidential spokesman, had announced last week that President Bola Tinubu had appointed new leadership of communication agencies, including NIPOST.

But a report followed shortly that Adeyemi Adepoju, the sacked Postmaster-General, had been reinstated.

In a viral video, Adepoju was seen addressing some workers who claimed Tinubu had reappointed him.

Earlier in a statement by NIPOST on Friday, Adepoju alleged that President Bola Ahmed reappointed him as Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned Rt. Honourable Adeyemi Sunday Adepoju as the Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), citing Adepoju’s sterling leadership and excellent performance during his stay in office as the reason for his reinstatement”, a statement from NIPOST reads.

But when the new appointee made to get into her office on Monday, protesting workers blocked her from gaining access, saying her appointment was against their wish.
