The leadership of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) South West Zone D has disassociated itself from a purported endorsement of a certain NANS Senate Presidential Aspirant by Son of Nigerian President, Seyi Tinubu.

The union made this declaration in a release issued on Monday and signed by Comrade Alao John, Coordinator of National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) Southwest; Comrade Sanni Sulaimon Olamide; Secretary General National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest and Comrade Bamigboye Peter Oluwadamilola, Public Relations Officer, National Association Of Nigerian Students(NANS) Southwest.

The release was titled “Re: Speculated Endorsement of NANS Senate Presidential Aspirant by Seyi Tinubu”.

The union said it is aware of a recent publication circulating in the media through a Twitter account with the name NANS Southwest Zone D by Comrade Awoyinfa Opeoluwa who is the former PRO of the above zone regarding the speculated endorsement of a certain NANS senate presidential aspirant by Seyi Tinubu, son of Nigerian president Bola Tinubu.

It said the publication has caused significant consternation among the public and various stakeholders, including members of NANS.

The union said, “We wish to clarify that the Twitter account used does not belong to the current leadership of the above mentioned zone and that the individual mentioned in the publication, Comrade Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, is a former Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NANS South West Zone D and does not hold any current position within our organization.

“He has no right to use the name of the zone for publication, and his views do not represent the stance of our organization or its members. Upon thorough investigation, it has been established that the sponsor of the publication, Comrade Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, is no longer affiliated with NANS South West Zone D. The publication is not an official communication from our organization, and we urge the public and all stakeholders to disregard it.

“NANS South West Zone D remains committed to transparency, fairness, and the democratic values that guide our association. We appreciate the concern shown by our members and the public, and we want to assure everyone that the leadership of NANS South West Zone D will continue to work diligently in the best interest of Nigerian students.”
