Launch investigation into attack on my property – NNPP chieftain tells IGP, Ogun CP

Must read

A chieftain of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and the commissioner of Police in Ogun state to investigate the attack on his property.

Oguntoyinbo made this declaration on Friday.

Bullion Hotel in Simawa Area in Ogun State, was attacked by some suspected political thugs and some men in police uniform few days ago.

Oguntoyinbo who is the owner of the hotel has however urged the IGP and the CP to carry out a thorough investigation into the actions of the Police officers, who allegedly accompanied the political thugs to invade his hotel last Tuesday.

Oguntoyinbo who was the 2023 governorship candidate of NNPP in Ogun State in a statement made available to journalists noted that he is demanding accountability and justice for the alleged misconduct of the officers who invaded his hotel and ransacked the rooms without a search warrant.

He said, “Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo and his legal team have called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police to carry out a thorough investigation into the actions of the Police officers, who accompanied political thugs to invade his hotel last Tuesday.

“The incident has raised serious questions about the conduct and professionalism of law enforcement personnel in the state, prompting calls for reform within the Police Force.

“It was unfortunate for the officers and the thugs as their illegal and nefarious activities were captured by Hotel’s CCTV.

“Furthermore, the officers were not properly attired. Instead of the standard Police uniform and boots, they appeared wearing casual shirts and slippers, a stark deviation from the expected dress code”.

He added that the officers together with the thugs who were heavily armed stormed the Hotel in a commando manner in the early hour of Tuesday without any legal authorization and therefore intimidated and embarrassed the occupants of the hotel.

He added that the police officers moved from one room to another searching underneath beds and wardrobes and giving blanket protection to thugs who stole items belonging to the staff and guests who came to lodge in the hotel.

Also speaking on the incident, the Head of the Legal Team of the owner, Barrister Isaac Izunya, said the Shimawa Divisional Police Officer (DPO) reportedly detained the individuals who had filed complaints about the incident and labeled them as suspects while releasing the original attackers and marking them as complainants.

“The DPO did not just stop at that but went ahead to make a case of attempted murder on the alleged complainants, who left their various homes to come to the hotel and suffered this unprovoked attack.

“The poser that will be calling for an answer is, how can someone who was attacked in his own apartment be facing the case of attempted murder?

“There was no arrest warrant to back up the illegal arrest made by the police officers and the physical assault meted out on the staff and the hotel’s guests”.
