Insurgency:  Int’l development partners visit Buni, pledge support to improve lives of Yobe citizens

Yobe State governor Mai Mala Buni has granted audience to officials of the World Bank and the multi-sectorial crises recovery project in Abuja.

During the engagement, they discussed measures to improve synergy and scale up services to improve lives of people affected by insurgency.

The director media and press affairs to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed says, Governor Buni reiterates the need to enhance food sufficiency and security in the region.

It noted the urgent need to effectively enhance agricultural productivity for food security and economic development.

Governor Buni charged the international development partners to check the bureaucratic bottlenecks in the operations of their organizations retarding speedy support to communities faced with humanitarian disasters.

The team led by Taimur Samad, operations manager and acting country director, said the World Bank is willing to support Yobe State government to actualize its reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery process to improve the lives of the people.

Similarly, the MCRP task team led by Fuad Malkawi, assured the governor of continued support in resettlement of displaced persons and future plans for urban development in the state.
