BREAKING: Tinubu duly elected by INEC – Tribunal rules

Must read

After four months of legal fireworks, the presidential election petition tribunal has now dismissed the petition of both Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, and that of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

The five-man election tribunal ruled that both Atiku and Tinubu failed to show proofs of all the allegations against  President Bola Tinubu’s victory.

The tribunal led by Justice Haruna Tsammani further held that the petition on the 25 percent votes in the FCT was irrelevant as the FCT has no special status that is different from other states.

On the allegation of financial forfeiture in the United States, the court ruled that Tinubu was not convicted and that there is no law in the country that says for merely forfeiting money, one can be disqualified from contesting in a presidential election.

The tribunal further held that the petitioners did not present enough evidence to prove their case in their allegation of electoral malpractices. It said no single witness was in court to show proofs that the elections were manipulated.

Ruling in the case of transmitting of result electronically, the court held that there is no such law that says failure to transmit elections should lead to its cancellation. The court buttressed that it is abnormal to say that IREV should be the only means of transmitting the election results.

Details shortly….
