The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has clarified that the reports on social media about a pregnant woman being crushed to death by a LASTMA van in Lagos are untrue.

The incident allegedly occurred at the MRS filling station on Kodesoh Road, Ikeja. According to LASTMA, a preliminary investigation revealed that a mini commercial bus driver drove dangerously and a passenger fell from the bus. The passenger sustained minor injuries and was treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) before being discharged.

Taofiq, however, disclosed that the matter was immediately reported at the Area ‘F’ Divisional Police Station for further investigation.

LASTMA has reported the matter to the police for further investigation and urges all commercial bus operators to “always ensure the safety of their passengers by having their vehicle door closed while on motion as enshrined in the Lagos State transport sector reform.
