Many people are said to hav have been electrocuted to death at the Amaechi-School Road junction in Rumuomasi, along the East-West Road, of Obio-Akpor local government area in Rivers State.
There, however, conflicting reports on the number of persons eho died from the electrocution. While some said five persons were killed, other reports said six person were lost to the electrocution.
Some victims were also reported to have sustained various degrees of injuries from the incident.
An unconfirmed report claims a bill board being mounted by a church sparked the electric spark that led to the electrocution.
An eyewitness to Daily Post that while some died instantly, others were taken to a hospital, where they were confirmed dead by a doctor.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the incident and assured that investigation is ongoing.
