Senator Godswill Akpabio has defeated Abdul’aziz Yari to emerge the new Senate president.
Akpabio and Yari had earlier been nominated by their colleagues in the senate to slog it out for the position.
This is coming following the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in Abuja.
Senator Ali Ndume nominated Akpabio while Yari was nominated by Senator Ishiaku Abbo.
Recall that it has been widely held that the nation’s number one citizen, Bola Tinubu had preferred the new Senate President.
