The National President of the Ondo State Fishermen Association of Nigeria, Ambassador Orioye Benedict Gbayisemore, has called on the state government to prioritize the enforcement of life jacket usage and invest in improving water transportation to prevent future tragedies.
The boat mishap resulted in the immediate loss of five lives, while only one person survived due to the use of a life jacket. The incident highlights the importance of enforcing the mandatory use of life jackets on waterways to enhance passenger safety.
