Abia First Lady, Otti frowns at baby factory operation, vows to tackle menace

The wife of the Governor of Abia State, Priscilla Otti, on Wednesday, promised prompt rehabilitation of inmates recently rescued from a baby factory located at Umunkpeyi Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South local government area of the state.

She gave the assurance during her unscheduled visit to the victims at Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro, Umuahia, where they are being taken care of.

Mrs Otti flanked by the Senior Special Assistant on Special duties to the State Governor, Dr Mrs. Betty Emeka-Obasi, grieved on the recent ugly incident at umunkpeyi isiala Ngwa local area, describing the sad development as heartbreaking.

The Abia first lady regretted that such ugly scenario was being carried out in the state and also assured the present administration would partner with charity homes, churches and other relevant stakeholders to provide necessary assistance to care for young girls and Abia children who are being taken advantage of.

Earlier, while receiving the Governor’s wife during the visit, the Provost, Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro in Umuahia south local government area, Reverend Fr. Christian Anokwuru disclosed the rescued girls numbering 20 are pregnant and had undergone necessary medical tests to ascertain their health status.

The soldiers of the Nigerian Army had last weekend, bursted a baby factory at umunkpeyi Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa south local government area of Abia state and rescued 20 young girls whom some are pregnant.

Two persons were reportedly arrested in connection with operation of the Abia baby factory.
