Rapid response squad arrests one-chance gang members in Lagos

Must read

The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos has successfully apprehended three individuals believed to be members of a notorious one-chance gang. These criminals were operating along the Oshodi-Gbagada Expressway, preying on unsuspecting victims. The RRS, a specialized police unit, has been actively combatting criminal activities in the city.

On April 14, 2023, RRS operatives encountered the suspects while they were attempting to abandon their operational vehicle, a Suzuki mini bus known locally as ‘korope,’ in the Gbagada area of Oshodi-Oke along the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway. The timely intervention of the RRS prevented the gang members from escaping and enabled the safe release of a victim they had abducted.

Investigations into the matter revealed that the suspects had seized the Suzuki mini bus at gunpoint in February at the Ketu bus stop, located along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Ojo. The incident was immediately reported to the Ijanikin Police Divisional Headquarters, prompting the commencement of an extensive investigation to bring the criminals to justice.

Following weeks of relentless pursuit and thorough investigation, the RRS successfully apprehended the alleged members of the one-chance gang at their hideout. The suspects have been identified as Wale Ajayi, aged 24, Abideen Saka, aged 26, and Oliseh Sunday, also known as Bobwhiskey, aged 29. This significant breakthrough demonstrates the effectiveness of the RRS’s efforts in curbing criminal activities and ensuring the safety of the people of Lagos.
