The new unified Unstructured Supplementary Service Data, USSD, for all mobile networks in the country by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has become effective as teelcom operators have adopted the new policy.

Recall that the NCC had approved a Unified USSD codes for all mobile networks in Nigeria.

But as from May 18, 2023, AFRIPOST observed that some of the telecommunication companies had began implementation by changing their USSD to the unified ones.

It then means that the unified USSD is the only means subscribers would recharge, check mobile networks, load data, and share services.

In March 2023, the commission had directed telecom companies to migrate and fully implement the unified USSD codes, at least, by May 17, 2023.

On the 18th, many subscribers were unable to load their lines with the old USSD of the various network providers.

An attempt by a few customers to load returned a message that the codes have changed.
