Must read

A man who embarked on an extraordinary journey from Kano to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, walking over 400 kilometers to meet with President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has made a resolute declaration: he won’t return until he fulfills his mission.

Sani Binyamin Danbatta, hailing from Danbatta in Kano State, undertook this solidarity walk to celebrate the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the February 25th, 2023 Presidential election. Although Engr Muhammad Awal Ibrahim, a former member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and the Global convener of Tinubu/Shettima Global Support Group (TSGSG), has welcomed and offered accommodation to Danbatta until May 29, 2023, the determined man insists that he won’t head back to Kano until he captures a selfie with Tinubu himself.

Explaining his motivation to journalists, Danbatta expressed his deep passion for the President-elect and his desire to join fellow Nigerians in commemorating the victory. Despite initially setting off on the journey with a friend who eventually gave up along the way, Danbatta chose to align himself with TSGSG due to the group’s unwavering support for Tinubu. He praised their political rallies, grassroots engagement, and the commendable efforts of Engr Awal, who warmly received and accommodated him.

Reflecting on his arduous journey, Danbatta expressed gratitude to God for protecting him throughout, particularly on the Kano/Kaduna and Kaduna/Abuja highways, which have shown signs of improved security. He commended the government’s strides in combating insecurity in these areas and across the country.

Danbatta’s ultimate goal is to have a personal interface with the President-elect, offering his heartfelt congratulations and appealing for enhanced security and infrastructural development in his hometown of Dambatta. Additionally, he hopes to capture a cherished selfie with Tinubu as a memento before returning to Kano to continue his education. Optimistic about Nigeria’s future, Danbatta envisions a secure, prosperous, and united nation with Tinubu at the helm.

Engr Awal, upon receiving Danbatta, expressed his admiration for young Nigerians who actively engage in politics and show their support for chosen candidates through tangible actions. He lauded Danbatta’s trek as a remarkable display of political activism, fueled by his admiration for Tinubu’s humility, track record, and dedication. Promising him accommodation and logistical support until after the President-elect’s inauguration on May 29th, 2023, Engr Awal demonstrated his commitment to nurturing the aspirations of passionate young individuals in Nigerian politics
