Kano Governor-elect mourns bodyguard after fatal car crash

Abdurrahman Gambo, a security detail of the Kano State governor-elect, Abba K. Yusuf, has been reported dead following a tragic auto accident along the Kano-Bichi federal highway. The incident happened on the evening of April 29, 2023, as the top bodyguards were returning to Kano from a private wedding ceremony in Bichi.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle skidded off the highway and somersaulted several times before crashing, leaving one person dead and another, identified as “China,” injured but receiving treatment at a health facility. The deceased, Abdurrahman Gambo, has been laid to rest in Kano.

In his reaction to the unfortunate incident, the Kano State governor-elect, Abba K. Yusuf, expressed sadness and described the death of his loyal and passionate team member as a significant loss that cannot be quantified. He also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.

The incident has continued to generate reactions from residents of the state, with many expressing concerns over the safety of the highways and the need for urgent government intervention to reduce the rate of road accidents in the state.
