Varsity student dies after writing exam in Yobe

A tragic incident has occurred in Yobe State University (YSU) Damaturu, as Maryam Lawan Goroma, a student at the institution, slumped and died shortly after writing her examinations on Thursday, April 27, 2023. According to reports, Maryam was healthy before her sudden collapse.

Confirming the incident, a classmate, Mallam Bukar Maisandari expressed his condolences and stated that Maryam’s death was unexpected. Another student, Abubakar Zaid, also revealed that she had complained of stomach upset during the exam.

Maryam Lawan Goroma was laid to rest on Friday, April 28, 2023, according to Islamic rites at her family residence in Sabon Fegi, Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

The news of the student’s sudden demise has sent shock waves across the university community, with many mourning her loss. The university authorities and the government have also expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
