FRSC condemns unjust attack on personnel, operational vehicles during rescue operation in Jos

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Ali Biu, has strongly condemned the recent attack on FRSC personnel and operational vehicles during a rescue operation in Jos, Plateau State. The attack was described as unjustifiable, unfortunate, and could have a demoralizing effect on the morale of the operatives. This incident occurred while FRSC personnel were carrying out their lawful duty of rescuing crash victims following a fatal crash that occurred in Bauchi Road street.

The fatal crash involved a diesel-laden tanker that instantly went into flames, killing 13 people, injuring 10 victims, and burning down a total of eight motor vehicles, six tricycles, and two motorcycles. Two teams were detailed to carry out prompt rescue of the crash victims, but they were ambushed by sympathizers and suspected hoodlums who came out in their hundreds.

The attackers burned down one FRSC patrol vehicle and damaged many parts of the ambulance that was to rescue the injured victims to the hospital. The attack also left three operatives with severe injuries sustained on their heads and other parts of their bodies. In response, the Corps Marshal has called on the public to desist from further unprovoked attacks on FRSC personnel and facilities both in the operational front and within its command premises.

The FRSC headquarters released a statement signed by Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer. The statement also applauded the swift response of the Nigeria Police Force and other security organizations who acted swiftly to calm the rousing tension and disperse the angry mob, restoring normalcy on that route
