Nasarawa deputy governor’s driver abducted by gunmen near state college of agriculture

Gunmen have kidnapped Daniel Ogoshi, the driver of Nasarawa Deputy Governor, Emmanuel Akanbe. The incident occurred on Tuesday night when Ogoshi was at a friend’s residence near the state College of Agriculture around Ombi 2. This is coming after a retired Immigration officer, Mr Jacob Agada, was killed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in the same area recently. It is also noteworthy that the former deputy governor of the state, Professor Onje Gye-Wado, was abducted from his residence in Rinza community in Wamba local government area of the state some time ago.

According to a family friend who confirmed the latest incident, the assailants took Ogoshi while leaving his phone and car behind. He got a call around 9:pm from a friend in the area that Ogoshi was kidnapped, and he alerted the police immediately. The kidnappers have not yet contacted the family over the development.

Emmanuel Ehima, the information officer to the deputy governor, also confirmed the incident, describing it as unfortunate and sad. He said information about the kidnap was still sketchy, and the deputy governor has liaised with the appropriate authority on the matter. The state Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, also confirmed the incident and assured the public that the command is on top of the situation.

The recent wave of kidnappings and insecurity in Nasarawa State has become a major concern for residents, government officials, and security agencies. The state government has called on security agencies to redouble their efforts in curbing the menace and bringing perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile, residents have been advised to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
