Chekwas Okorie, former national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), has admonished the Independent National Electoral Commission on the recent pronouncement of supreme court of Nigeria affirming Edozie Njoku as the authentic APGA national chairman.

This comes on the backdrops of the recent court judgement that sacked Mr Victor Oye, and affirmed Njoku as the main national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the country.

It followed an application by Njoku, wherein it had addressed him as the national chairman of the party and advised him to approach the court by way of a motion to correct the slip.

The accidental slip, which the Supreme Court corrected, has restored Njoku as the actual National Chairman of APGA, which was wrongfully removed by a Jigawa High Court in Suit No: JDU/022/2021 between Alhaji Garba Aliyu and Chief Jude Okeke & 2 Ors.

AFRIPOST recalls that Justice Garba Lawal had in a lead judgement, held it was Chief Edozie Njoku that was wrongly removed at Jigawa without being joined as a party.

Subsequently, Justice Lawal stated that Njoku’s application was meritorious and consequently granted it as prayed.

Earlier, Okorie, while baring his mind which contained in a statement issued during the weekend, called on INEC to comply with the clear judgement of the supreme court in line with its consequential orders as clearly spelt in its enrolled order to recognize Chief Edozie Njoku as the authentic subsisting APGA national chairman.

According to him, “APGA is the second oldest political party in Nigeria today. This party has immense untapped potential to deepen democracy in Nigeria.

“INEC has a responsibility to support APGA grow and contribute to the growth of democracy in the country.

“This commission has a responsibility to bring the 19-year leadership crisis in the party to a close by doing the needful. Enough is enough
