The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented the Certificate of Return to the Governor-elect, Revd. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, his deputy, Sam Ode, and 32 members of the State House Assembly-elect on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.
In his acceptance speech, Revd. Fr. Alia expressed his hope that the 10th assembly, with him as the Governor, would work together to promote peace and economic growth in the state. He promised to use the trust placed in him by the people of Benue to create a better future for the state and its people.
He stated that his administration would focus on making the civil service functional again and would work with different groups and all parties in the State to take the State to greater heights. He also expressed his gratitude to all who made the day possible and promised to remain loyal and patriotic to the tenets of the nation.
The INEC Resident Commissioner, Prof. Samuel Egwu, congratulated the recipients and urged them to concentrate on governance now that the elections are over.
