Adamawa Guber: Governor Fintiri accuses INEC REC of inexperience over inconclusive elections

Must read

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has accused Mr Yunusa Hudu Ari, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state of inexperience and a biased mindset for the inconclusive Governorship election in the state.

The Governor made this accusation while responding to allegations made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Sen Aishatu Binani, on a monitored channel.

Fintiri blamed the inconclusive election on the inexperience and mindset of the REC and accused Aliyu Wakila Boya, a House of Representatives member-elect for Fofure of snatching the INEC summary sheet, which he claimed was masterminded to favour the APC.

The governor further accused the REC of including units that had no issues among those with overvoting and called for a cancellation of the election in the affected areas. Fintiri, who claims to have been leading by over 31,000 votes, stated that there was no need for the rerun.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, also denied Binani’s claim that the House of Assembly elections results were announced in favour of Fintiri in Madagali, Michika, and Hong LGAs. Wonosikou advised Binani to concede defeat as it was evident that she was not going to win the Governorship election in the state.
