PDP demands removal of Adamawa REC

Must read

The Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has called for the removal of the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Bar Hudu Yunusa Ari. This follows allegations of election malpractice leveled against him by the PDP.

The Deputy Director-General (South) of the PDP Campaign Council, Mr. Filex Tangwami, accused the REC of bias and meddling in the governorship election in Fufore LGA. He claimed that the REC had ordered the Returning Electoral Officer to manipulate the results in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani.

Tangwami also alleged that the REC had added polling units to the election results against the 69 polling units declared inconclusive by INEC. According to Tangwami, these actions led to the publication of false results that made it seem as if Binani had won the election when collation had not been completed.

The PDP Campaign Council has called on INEC to investigate the allegations against the REC and remove him from Adamawa State. Tangwami cited a leaked audio recording as evidence of the REC’s interference in the election. He stated that the PDP had lost confidence in the REC’s ability to be an unbiased umpire in elections.
