Benue PDP rejects election results, heads to tribunal

The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its decision to challenge the outcome of the March 18th, 2023 Governorship and States House of Assembly elections at the Benue State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Makurdi.

Acting Chairman of the party, Dr. Isaac Mffo, stated during a press conference that the elections fell below the accepted minimum standards, and that the party had done its homework diligently in the build-up to the elections by campaigning thoroughly in all parts of the state.

Mffo also commended PDP members across the state for exhibiting uncommon courage to vote in the elections despite heavy militarisation and the use of thugs aided by security agents allegedly sent to the state by federal authorities from Abuja.

The PDP is seeking to help deepen democracy in Nigeria by taking action to reverse the hijacking of the popular mandate of the people as done by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during the last elections, and restore the mandate of the Benue electorate to the PDP.
