Voters in Isanlu, the headquarters of Yagba East LGA of Kogi State yesterday resisted an attempt to snatch a ballot box while the election was ongoing.
Eyewitness said that thugs stormed the polling unit of a former commissioner for finance and a gubernatorial candidate under the platform of the APC, Asiwaju Asiru Idris.
They stated that the thugs stormed the polling unit with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons to snatch the ballot box from the APC stronghold but they met their surprise when women and youths who were supposed to run for their lives stood their ground to resist them till security agents were drafted to the place.
At the time of filing this report, normalcy had been restored and voting continued.
The presiding officer confirmed that the thugs invaded the polling unit but the electoral officers and materials were all safe.
