Man loses son to fire in Lagos

A Senior Police Officer attached to the Lagos Police Command has lost his 15-year-old son to the inferno that gutted their apartment at Falomo Police Barracks in Ikoyi area of the state.

The Lagos Police  PRO, Ben Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police who confirmed the incident through the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ikoyi, said that the fire outbreak happened at the Falomo Police Barracks on Tuesday at 12:40 PM

Hundeyin said the DPO was informed that the fire gutted Room 24, Block 1 of ASP Godspower David attached to the Bar Beach Police Division, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“The teams successfully put out the fire, however, during the evacuation of the debris, the corpse of one Emmanuel Godspower David, aged 15 years, the son of the officer consumed by the inferno was found.

“The corpse evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy, while investigation in progress,” he averred.

Lagos Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, has commiserated with the bereaved officer and his family at Falomo Police Barracks in company with the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, DCP Isa Grema for condolences.
