BREAKING: PDP, LP, ADC pass vote-of-no confidence on INEC, asks Yakubu to resign

The alleged refusal of INEC to upload results on its portal has tainted the credibility of the election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Labour Party, LP, and the Alliance for Democracy, AD, have said.

In a world press conference at the Trancorp Hilton in Abuja attended by the chairmen of the aforementioned political parties, Iyorchia Ayu and Julius Abure said INEC compromised the integrity of the poll even before the election commenced.

The statement said the failure to comply with the electoral act on the transmission of results has put the election to question, stating that the expectations of Nigerians were dashed following the resort to the manual transmission of results.

They said the elections were compromised and they have lost faith in the exercise, calling for a fresh election to be conducted.

“We call on the international community that the result being announced at the ICC has been heavily doctored,” the statement said.

They consequently passed a vote of no confidence on Yakubu Mahmood, asking him to step aside as chairman of the INEC.

The parties also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stand by his promises of a free, fair, and credible election.
