Ebubeagu: PDP chieftain raises alarm over Umahi’s alleged renewed plot

Must read

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi state, Chief Abia Onyike, has raised the fresh alarm over Governor David Umahi’s renewed plots regarding the recent judgment of the Federal High court sitting in Abakiliki, which disbanded Ebubeagu security outfit in the state.

Onyike is reacting to Umahi’s organized Press Conference where he asked Ebonyians that despite the disbandment of Ebubeagu, he had formed two new security outfits while waiting for a stay of execution at the court of appeal.

The former commissioner of information stated this on Monday in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Abakiliki.

According to Onyike, one would have expected Gov Umahi to apologize to the traumatized families whose loved ones were killed, maimed, illegally detained, brutalized, abducted, kidnapped, and subjected to several forms of inhuman treatment.

The Chieftain who is the Director, Media, and Publicity PDP campaign organization, stated that Many innocent citizens of the state are still languishing in jail as a result of the excesses of the Ebubeagu killer squad and called for their unconditional release.

“Now, Gov Umahi should take note that he has no other alternative than to obey the court order which was a declaratory order on the vexed issue of human rights abuses.

“He should note that there is an “Order of Perpetual Injunction Restraining him, his Government and their agents or privies from recognizing, parading or continuing to recognize or parade any person or persons as a state or regional security outfit in the guise of any security agency.

“Governor Umahi’s continued parade of his so-called two new security outfits is a violation of the above orders of the Court and therefore amounts to CONTEMPT OF COURT.

“Governor Umahi should refrain from further acts of treasonable felon geared towards overriding the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or the Sovereign Will of the people, through his selfish and wicked misuse of political power.

“This devilish culture of insisting on butchering the citizens as an instrument of power grab must be stopped if our democracy is to survive. Let Umahi and his cronies/footsoldiers succumb to the conventional security apparatus for a level playing field as we approach the 2023 general elections.

“Umahi’s insistence on creating further security outfits should be seen as the antinomies of a sinking war-lord who is desperate to win elections and impose his surrogates at all costs.

While urging Ebonyians to reject those worn-out machinations, insisting that they want free and fair elections to enable them to elect credible leaders of their choice.
