2023 elections: Abia Govt to sanction traditional ruler engaging in partisan politics

Must read

The Government of Abia state has frowned the brazen impunity exhibited by some traditional rulers who have abandoned their primary responsibilities as custodians of tradition and customs of the people, and descended into the arena of partisan politics in the state.

This was disclosed in a terse statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Chris Ezem, and made available to newsmen in umuahia, the state capital on Friday.

The State Government also noted it has been inundated with reports of involvement of recognized traditional rulers from Abia north, central and south senatorial districts who have thrown caution to the winds in breach of existing public order.

“To this end, Government have taken notice of the activities of three traditional rulers from Abia north, two from Abia central and two from Abia south.

“By this final notice, all traditional rulers are warned to desist forthwith from such unwholesome act as government will not hesitate to sanction any erring traditional ruler going forward, “the release concluded.
