Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of quietly declaring Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele wanted.
Falana made this disclosure while appearing on Channels TV on Monday. He said Emefiele has been declared wanted over terrorism financing allegations.
He lamented that such action could only happen in a ‘banana republic’.
“I can say without any fear that Mr Godwin Emefiele is not in Nigeria, but he has been quietly declared wanted by state Security Services.
“This can only happen in a Banana republic where the CBN Governor would be accused of a grave offense, which is terrorism financing,” he said.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor is facing allegations of terrorism financing, diversion of revenue, agricultural loans and fraudulent practices in Forex transactions and a host of others.
